The late Kobe Bryant was honored at Lakers Night at Dodger Stadium, as the home team hosted the Atlanta Braves. (The Dodgers ended up losing to the Braves, 6-3.)
Bryant's daughter's Natalia, Bianka, and Capri attended the game, as did their mother, Vanessa—all wearing Dodgers jerseys.
Natalia, a 20-year-old USC student threw out the first ball to All-Star outfielder Mookie Betts. Betts, who was playing catcher for the pitch, wore Bryant's #24 jersey over his uniform.
The Dodgers organization also presented a $100,000 check to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation—a nonprofit that honors the legacy of Bryant and his daughter Gianna, who were killed in a 2020 helicopter crash. The foundation provides funding to underserved athletes.
A rather spectacular drone show was also on the agenda to celebrate Bryant's memory.
